Avoiding common feeding mistakes

• Too much energy intake: Too much food or too many treats often lead to bone growth that is too fast, which often isn't visible from the outside.

• Calcium-phosphorus imbalance: Especially with homemade rations, an incorrect balance can damage the bones.

To keep an optimal eye on your puppy's weight, we recommend weighing him once a week. In your HelloBello Pfotenportal, you can compare his development with your growth curve:

• If the weight is slightly below or right on the curve, everything is fine.

• If it is clearly above, you should reduce the amount of food.

As you can also read in the portal, your puppy's energy requirement does not rise linearly with weight. It reaches its peak already at 70 to 80 % of adult weight and then decreases again until your dog has reached his individual adult energy level.

Time for a change: When your puppy becomes an adult

As soon as your dog is fully grown, his daily food requirement changes. So that your four-legged friend stays optimally nourished, the daily requirement should be checked again at this point.
