Pork for dogs?

Pork for dogs

Pork is often considered controversial, but when properly processed, it is a safe and high-quality source of protein.

Why pork is fed

  • Tolerance: Since pork is less common in conventional recipes, it is often recommended in veterinary medicine for dogs with allergies or food intolerances.

  • Nutrient profile: It is an important source of vitamin B1 (thiamine), which supports the function of the nervous system.

  • Origin: We use exclusively regional pork to ensure high meat quality through short transport routes and controlled hygiene standards.

Safety and preparation

The common skepticism about pork is based on the Aujeszky virus, which can occur in raw meat. This risk is completely eliminated by heat:

  • Inactivation temperature: The virus is inactivated from a core temperature of 55°C.

  • Preparation: Our meals are cooked at temperatures above 70°C.

Thanks to this heating (as is the case, for example, with our Meals with Pork (Ringeltanz)), the meat is absolutely safe, easy to digest and retains its essential nutrients.
