Switching to HelloBello fresh food is well tolerated by most dogs and usually goes without any symptoms. Still, a temporary digestive upset can occur during the food change. This mainly affects young dogs, who first need to get used to new food components, or very sensitive dogs.
Possible symptoms that may occur during a food change:
Frequent bowel movements
Flatulence
Soft stool
Diarrhea
Vomiting
Loss of appetite
Itching
Please note that all of these symptoms can also have other causes that just happen to coincide with the food change, such as gastrointestinal infections or parasites. If there is intolerance or a food allergy, our veterinary consultation with our small animal specialist vet can give you valuable tips. Book a consultation now!
What to do if symptoms occur during the food change?
Your dog's health should not be impaired during or because of a food change.
For mild symptoms: If your dog shows one or more of the symptoms listed above but its general condition is good, feel free to contact us. We can refer you to our vet so the situation can be discussed.
If the general condition is impaired: If your dog's general condition is impaired (e.g. lethargy, fever, severe vomiting or persistent diarrhea), take it to a veterinary practice immediately so that other causes can be ruled out.
Careful observation of your dog is crucial during the food change. If you are unsure, we are happy to help.
